Multimodal Statement

My plan for my multimodal project is to talk about my brother Brady. As mentioned, before in previous essay’s and assignments, Brady was born prematurely with many health-related challenges. One topic I may not have brought up is that my mother ran the Boston Marathon in honor of my brother, raising money towards the hospital that helped save his life, Mass Eye and Ear and Boston Children’s Hospital. I admire my mother courage of this journey to help give back to an organization that has touched my family so much. My mother’s drive to give back to the community has formed me into the individual who I am today. I now want to travel the world and experience other cultures to learn how other cultures experience life and help give to the countries and areas of those who need it the most. That is why I chose to study abroad this upcoming fall to Tangier, Morocco. The courage my mother had to conquer her marathon, I want to have the same courage to explore new countries and cultures.

In my narrative interview, I interviewed a student here at UNE who just returned from Tangier, Morocco and she tells her story about the culture change and how she adapted to it to all. I plan to use my narrative interview for clips of my interviee’s story on culture change. I also plan on using pictures of my mother running the marathon to show her courage and images of my future campus in Morocco to show my courage as I am about to take my own journey.

Some pictures of my mom at the Boston Marathon in 2014 that I am going to incorporate in my Multimodal paper.

So far I have my visual planned out with my pictures

My auditory with my narrative project

I might use spacial by laying my pictures out in a certain way, or I might stick with gestural by the emotions and movements through the body language my mother gives off in her marathon images.

Here is an image of my brother that I also might incorporate

I feel that creating this Multimodal paper will allow me to explore how I came to build courage for my own journey, by watching my mother build her own courage first. This paper will help me walk through how my mother has taught me to become the person I am today.
